TransCab Pilot Project

On June 11 2007, Sault Ste. Marie Transit Services will implement a one year "TRANSCAB" pilot project to service your area.
Morning service will be from 7:15 am to 9:15 am
Afternoon service will be from 3:15 pm to 6:15 pm
Evening service will be from 9:15 pm to 11:15 pm
The cab will follow a designated route, on a regular schedule, and pick up passengers at designated stops. Each stop will be clearly marked with a TRANSCAB sign indicating the approximate time the cab will arrive. Transit will also offer our "PREFERRED STOP PROGRAM" to allow passengers to be picked up or dropped off at their driveway. Passengers requesting a pick-up at a location other than a posted bus stop, will flag the driver as the vehicle approaches. The driver will only respond to a visible request to stop.

Easier Access

Many buses are equipped with features that make them easier
to use such as:
Buses that lower to the curb so boarding is easier.
Easy-to-reach stop request buttons and yellow pull cords.
Additional lighting inside and out.
Fares and Passes

Drivers do not sell passes or provide change. Fares can be tendered with cash or by using our convenient monthly or punch passes.
Rates are subject to change without notice. For current rates and locations to purchase bus passes please call 759-5438. All regular monthly passes require a Sault Ste. Marie Transit photo ID. This ID may be purchased at the Transit Office 111 Huron Street. Youth passes are available for high school students at a cost of $20. They can be used from 3:00 p.m. and on, Monday to Friday as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. During the months of July and August this pass can be used all day every day.
Para Bus

This service is provided using lift equipped vehicles
for persons who are confined to a wheel chair. Trips should be booked
24 hours in advance. An application must be completed by a doctor prior
to use.
Evening Preferred Stop Program

This is a customer service available to passengers who use the bus after dark.
For added passenger safety, if you wish to be dropped off at a
location other than a regular bus stop after the streets lights go on
or after 9:00 pm whichever is earlier, simply speak to the operator a
block or two before you wish to get off and we'll let you off as close
as possible to your request.
To meet your request the operator must be able to stop safely.
For additional safety and security preferred stop users are requested to exit via the front door.
